The Sustainable, Stylish, and Ethical Fashion Brands You Need to Know

You love fashion. You also love your nature and social environment. Then one question popped up about how do you keep on improving your looks but at the same time being environmentally friendly. Good thing is, big fashion brands are starting to recognize how important this issue is and make it one of their top priorities when it comes to produce their products. This makes it easier for the customers to shop in a responsible manner, socially and environmentally.

When we are talking about sustainable, it’s not just about the fabric coloring that is environmentally friendly and stuffs, but also about the law-abiding treatments towards the workers of the company, fair trade based on official trade regulations applied, and the continuity of style that we can use all over again or mix well with other outfit, because one of the most important points of it all is to reduce global waste of cloth and fabric materials. Worry not, here are some of fashion brands (mostly my personal favorites!) that you can still splurge while being a front-liner in living a sustainable life.

ASOS Eco Edit

I personally love ASOS. They have wide varieties of cool stuffs and accessories and my love for them got even better when they announced their fantastic concept of green room which houses a wide range of ethically conscious brands. You can purchase hand-crafted jewelries, all vintage products, and many more that is guaranteed as sustainable fashions.

New Balance

This shoe line is a member and board member of several groups dedicated to work towards remedying issues with global supply chains. New Balance also has a team of 16 professionals who conduct announced and unannounced checks on suppliers from around the world.

People Tree

With its tagline as “Sustainable and Fair Trade Fashion”, People Tree became on of the pioneers in Slow Fashion, producing environmentally friendly fashion. They do such a great thing by building a partnership with local artisans and farmers in developing countries for the materials, so you will look good and feel good wearing their products. Plus, they have bunch of gorgeous summer dresses that makes you want to have a lunch picnic somewhere in the forest.

H&M Conscious Collection

I used to skip this section whenever I did some online-shopping through their website, but now this will be the first mouse click I do whenever I feel for some H&Ms. All of their collections here are made out of hemp, organic linen and organic leather. Surely one step ahead of looking great without harming the environment much.

Beaumont Organic

The thing I love about this brand is their openness when it comes to tracing the history of their fabrics so we can help put on some controls and ensure that no harmful processes were used on the manufacture of its clothing. As well as this, The Beaumont Organic Foundation pledges to donate 1% of its annual profits to the Niusawa School in Taveuni, Fiji, where the founder of the label, Hannah Beaumont, taught at in 2002.

Krochet Kids Intl.

This brand will always be one of my favorites for their affordable, on-trend clothing, and the incredible impacts they have on the communities where their artisans live and work. The non-profit social impact brand empowers their artisans in Uganda and Peru not only through fair wages, but also through education and mentoring programs. Krochet Kids Intl. has developed an extensive monitoring an evaluation system that measures a series of empowerment indicators every month, ensuring that every person in their program is impacted for good. How awesome is that?

Everlane

This USA based fashion brand carries ‘transparency’ as their main value when it comes to production. They spend months finding the best factories around the world then build strong personal relationships with factory owners to ensure their factory’s integrity and to maintain ethical production practices at every step of the process. For me, those things they did also have impacts for the customer personally because they believe that we have the rights to know how much cost spent for one product to be made and where they were made. Transparency meets lovely minimalist design!

Mini Mioche

Living a sustainable lifestyle nowadays is not easy. With all those rapid technology growing, we might be taken one step further from being eco-friendly on a daily basis. That is why it is important to teach and habituate young generations on how to live sustainably. One of the thing is through choosing the right fashion brands for the little one.

Mini Mioche makes organic children’s clothing with eco-friendly materials and low-impact dyes. Their simple basic designs in neutral colors are not only making our planet happier but also our little friends cuter.

While most of the brands above are based in the USA, but hope comes from their small steps to fix our views of fashion, and I hope that many brands worldwide will also be brave to take similar or even better actions for a more ethical and sustainable fashion industries globally. Because, darling, nothing is better than wearing clothes that make you look good and feel good at the same time.
