Vegetarian-friendly Restaurants in Jakarta: When You Are in Need for Salads, Vegan, and Raw Foods
Jakarta might not be the place where the options of green
and power foods are greatly plentiful but that doesn’t mean you can’t find
greener food options when your body needs it. My experience of getting out and
about in Jakarta brings me to these dining spots for raw foods, veggie bites,
and lot more. The thing about all of these dining places is they get so
creative with their menus that even non-vegan pals will be guaranteed to enjoy
and savor every single bite. So if you think vegetarian foods have to be bland
and boring, come think again!
Farmers Bowl
Grain bowls seem like being the Next Big Thing in Jakarta’s
culinary scene. Customers’ favorite here is the Harvest Bowl – a delicious
serving of warm quinoa, cous cous, soy glazed tempeh, grilled veggies, salted
edamame, and Farmer’s chili that will make you feel and look good! If you are
feeling for something sweet, you can opt for their choices of tasty and
guilt-free desserts. You can also create your own bowl by whipping up all the
fresh ingredients available with as many variants as you want! The dish size
here is also enough to fill up your tummy.

SaladStop!
I am going
to admit that I have this love relationship with salad. I used to live thinking
that eating a portion of salad won’t be enough to fill you up for at least the
entire day before you can have dinner again. That’s far from the case at
SaladStop!, whose vibrant and organic salads are nourishing, tasty, and packed
with flavor. Their bowls also come in a variety of flavors and they make one of
the best healthy crunchy tempeh crisps. And for you that despise veggies, they
have ‘friendlier’ options that still make sure you get enough greens you need.

Honu Poke and Matcha Bar
I knew poke bowl for the
first time when I was at this small alley in Melbourne and had been wishing to
get it again ever since I go back to Jakarta. Thank God, Honu came to the scene
and I can’t get enough of their Hawaiian Poke Bowls! This breezy neighbourhood
café in Kemang serves up major island vibes with their Hawaiian-style raw fish
bowls and refreshing matcha drinks. This place also has option for pescatarian
but vegans and vegetarians can always custom their own dish. If you’re all
about the matcha life, Honu’s matcha latte with honey and milk is definitely to
die for!

Burgreens
Burgreens specializes in
vegetarian and vegan burgers, with mushroom steaks and salads available too.
For vegetarian burger lover, you can pick everything from the bun, the patty,
to the finishing sauce. Burgreens original recipes use only locally sourced
ingredients, meaning you are getting the freshest foods and helping out national
farmers. Best thing about this place? You can get your favorite creamy sweets
after your meal and still feel as healthy as ever! You’ll have to try it to
believe it but their raw ice cream, which is non-dairy, gluten free, and vegan
friendly, is totally delish!! They also have special home delivery service so
you can still be healthy while being lazy on your sweatpants #winwin

Dharma Kitchen
Previously known as Citarasa,
which first open more than 20 years ago, Dharma Kitchen is Jakarta’s oldest
chain of vegetarian restaurants. Their menu mostly consists of Asian goods,
specifically Indonesian and Chinese dishes. Imagine going to your favorite
Chinese restaurant but with meat-friendly option for every cooking. I recommend
the suikiau, pan-fried Chinese
dumplings that come with tasty fillings like diced mushrooms and faux chicken.
They also take orders of vegan cakes and tarts for your special occasion!
